Charmaster has a new tool.
Over the years I have been blessed to have just the right tool for just the right occasion at just the right price.
This post is going to be more like a product review than a typical blog post. Why ? Because when you find something that makes your life easier you just want to scream it from the roof tops.
So lets see if I can adequately describe the tool and have it match the sequence of photos.
In the biochar game you are going to get into all sorts of situations whilst harvesting feed stocks for your biochar unit. As your probably aware my feed stock is plantation thinning’s and old logs left behind by the saw mill operators of yesteryear.
So one of my earliest tools is the chainsaw pictured below is my saw a Stihl farmboss. It is fantastic for the tasks I am challenged with however if your not careful you can find yourself sharpening the saw by the end of each tank of fuel. About every 6 mins or so. Keeping the blade out of the dirt is probably the most important rule for blade sharpness longevity.
Enter the 6 in 1 Knockabout by Snedden fencing supplies in Australia. Super thanks to Trevor and the team at Murbah Mowers for having the catalog in store and showing me it.
Charmaster has a new tool.
Lets get a closer look at the 6 in 1 Knockabout. Firstly I will only comment on the cant hook and log lifting part of the tool. Because it is what drew me to it and so far its the only thing I have given a workout too.
So the Knockabout is well built and of course the Charmaster is the right kind of crazy to take this tool to its limit.
Here is an embedded video I took today showing me trying to and eventually lifting the log so my blade will not touch the dirt ever again.
So with the new tool I was able to easily saw three quarters of this 9 meter log without having to sharpen my chain saw.
I must admit I did touch the saw to the tool right near the end when I was lacking in concentration and trying to get one more cut in.
In conclusion is the charmaster happy ? Oh Yeah. This little beauty makes me wanna go out and cut up more left over logs. It really has brought joy back to this part of the task. So it took me 15 mins one tank of fuel and a little bit of photo setup to get the job done.
So lets go over everything again. Charmaster has a new tool.
